A MAN who died after falling in the Leeds and Liverpool Canal has been named as Thomas Mayock.
The 64-year-old dog walker was found half submerged in the water behind the Queen Victoria pub, off Queen Victoria Road, at around 12.15pm on Friday (January 17).
Two joggers helped to pull Mr Mayock, of Talbot Street, Burnley, out of the water and he was rushed to Royal Blackburn Hospital, but we was prounced dead at 1.38pm.
A post mortem has been carried out by Dr Walid Salman but further tests are now to be carried out to try and establish the cause of death.
An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned until May 6.
