Shoppers to trial new carriers in Chorley

SHOPPERS in Chorley are among the first in the country to use new compostable carrier bags launched by a supermarket chain.
The lightweight bags at the Co-operative are the first of their kind introduced by a large-scale food retailer in the town.
When the bags are no longer required to carry shopping home, they can be used with their food waste contents and turned into compost.
The compost can then be used to grow fruit and vegetables in a perfect environmental cycle, with the store hoping to encourage more people to recycle.
The new bags can now be found in the Co-op food stores in Chorley, Coppull and Adlington.
