THIS little sheep is absolutely ‘baaarking mad’.

Roy, who was hand reared, actually thinks he is a dog and helps round up the other sheep on Rayhead Farm, in Bolton-by-Bowland.

He was saved from the slaughter by Clitheroe landlady Lisa Evans, who runs The Horseshoe Inn, in Bawdlands, after she fell in love with him while visiting the farm.

She decided to have a collection behind the bar to pay the farmer the lamb’s auction price of £70.

Mum-of-one Lisa, 43, said she could not bear to think about him not living nearby.

She said: “Roy is just like a dog, I do not think he knows he is a sheep.

“He follows the farmer and he rounds the other sheep up. Other farms have a sheep pig or a sheep dog, but we have a sheep sheep.

“He is a lovely little lamb and he has a personality of his own.”

Regulars at the Horseshoe raised £100 and Roy will now be able to spend the rest of his days as a pet.

Natasha Smalley, 21, whose family runs Rayhead Farm, said an exception had to be made in Roy’s case.

The beautician said: “I think it is lovely what Lisa has done.

“With having a farm, we do not usually keep the sheep, it is quite a lot of hassle and we sell them for slaughter.

“But Roy did have quite a personality on him.

“He thinks he is a dog and he tends to hang around with the other dogs.

“They run after the quad bikes and he has started doing it too.

“He does exactly what he likes, he is such a lovely little animal.

“We have never known a sheep like him before.”
