A SELECTION of books on the First World War has been bought for Darwen Library by the friends’ group.
They will be displayed shortly and become available to the public from mid-February.
Among them is an impressive photographic narrative of the war produced by the Imperial War Museum and retailing at £40.
Poetry is represented by an anthology and a rare volume of war poems by Siegfried Sassoon, first published in 1919.
Friends of Darwen Library chairman John East said: “We have spent well over £1,500 on books for the library and this is just the latest selection.”
