A TEENAGER accused of holding up a phone shop in Burnley with a kitchen knife on New Year’s Day has appeared before Pennine magistrates.

The 16-year-old was charged with robbery of Mohammed Jabbar of an iPhone 4S and faced the town’s youth court yesterday.

He was also accused of possession of a kitchen knife, in connection with the January 1 offence.

His case was sent to Burnley Crown Court for trial and he was remanded on bail for a preliminary hearing to take place on February 3.

Magistrates bailed him on condition he has no contact with another man connected with the case or approaches Sanat Communications on Colne Road.
