VOLUNTEERS are needed to clear the way for wildlife at beauty spots in, and around, Accrington.
Weekly conservation sessions have already started at venues including Hollins Wood, Priestley Clough, and The Coppice.
The programme, run by Lancashire Wildlife Trust and the Prospects Foundation, involves a range of volunteers, from pupils at Hollins Technology College, to pensioners wishing to stay active.
The Trust’s East Lancashire senior projects officer Kim Coverdale said: “Volunteering is a great way to help us maintain our local reserves, while learning useful skills. It is also a chance to keep fit and meet new people on your patch.
“Volunteers should wear warm, old clothes, and sensible strong footwear. Also bring a packed lunch and waterproof clothing.
“We will provide tools, gloves, and hot drinks.”
New volunteers should register at volunteer@lancs wt.org.uk or by calling 01772 318374.
Sessions begin at 10.30am and finish at 2.30pm.
