Pupils got to experience what it is like to organise a fundraising event, raising more than £600 for a children’s hospice.

Albany Academy Year 7 pupils hosted a Christmas fair to raise money for Derian House Children Hospice.

The students organised every aspect of the event including the stalls, marketing and prizes.

Pupils, parents and pupils’ siblings were all in attendance and they were able to enjoy traditional fairground games.

Visitors were treated to performances by the Albany Academy Choir and were able to enjoy refreshments at the Fair Trade café.

The event was supported by Ebb and Flow book shop and the Co-operative Food Store in Adlington who donated prizes.

Head of year Shelley Birchall said: “I’m very proud of Year 7 and all their efforts in organising this event.

“It was a fantastic afternoon enjoyed by all and the amount of money raised is just the cherry on the cake.”
