POLICE are hunting a man who swung a knife at a teenage couple as they walked through an estate.
The incident happened at 8pm on Thursday, January 2 when the 17-year-old boy and his girlfriend were approached from behind by a man at the top of a ginnel along Clover Road near to the Gillbrands estate in Chorley.
The suspect shouted abuse at the boy before swinging at him with a knife.
The victim managed to block him using his arm before the offender made his way on foot up Lidgate Road.
The man is described as being aged between 20 to 25 years of age, over 6ft tall and skinny build.
He was wearing a dark hooded top and dark tracksuit bottoms and spoke with a local accent.
Police are reassuring the public that an investigation is underway.
PC Steve Benko from Chorley Police said: “Fortunately the victim managed to defend himself and was unhurt.
“He is described as being under the influence of drink and drugs or suffering from a mental illness and we need the public’s help to find him.
”I would reassure people that incidents of this nature are rare in Chorley but I’d appeal to anyone who may have any information about the identity of this man to contact Lancashire Police on 101.”
