DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a 52-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Burnley.

The man, from Burnley, was initially attacked inside Barcode on Hammerton Street around 3.50am on Sunday.

He was followed by two men onto Queens Lancashire Way where they punched him to the floor and kicked him in the face.

Both attackers ran away leaving the man lying on the floor semi-conscious. He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with a swollen eye and a cut to his lip.

Police are appealing for anybody with any information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Charlie Haynes said: “I am keen to speak with anyone who can provide us with any information about the assault in the pub and/or the assault which followed shortly after on Queens Lancashire Way.

“Even the smallest amount of information could help as we search for the people responsible for this vicious assault.”

Police have also released a CCTV image of a three men they are keen to speak with in connection with the assaults.

Detective Sergeant Haynes added: “If anybody recognises any of the men captured on CCTV then I would urge them to contact police.”
