HUNDREDS of talented young musicians brought a series of concerts to a close in harmonious style.

Bolton Music Service hosted six concerts, the final of which saw BMS Singers, Bolton Youth Harmonies and Corus Brass perform a carol service at St Thomas of Canterbury Church, Londsdale Road.

The events bring to a close a busy year for the service, which provides high quality music services for schools, teachers, young people and their families in Bolton.

Martin Kay, deputy head of Bolton Music Service, said: “All the concerts throughout the season have been extremely well-attended and supp-orted by parents and friends and family.

“They’ve all gone extremely well. We’re really proud of the standard of performance across the board.

“We’ve had as busy a term as we’ve had before, performing in a wide range of concerts. We want to congratulate all the young people.

“Every one of our ensembles performs at least once a term.

“Across the concerts, more than 1,000 young performers have taken part.”

The programme also featured The Brass Bands Christmas Concert at The Bridge Church, The Orchestral Christmas Concert at Millennium Chapel, Bradshaw Brow, The Concert Bands’ Christmas Awards Evening at The Last Drop Village, The Jazz Christmas Awards Evening at Horwich RMI and NCS and Strings Groups Christmas Concert at Bolton Music Centre.

In January, reh-earsals will begin for the Music Centre Presents showcase which will be held over five nights at the Albert Halls in March and April. And over the coming months, the service’s Youth Concert Band will be holding events in a bid to raise £15,000 to subsidise their concert trip to Lake Garda, Italy, in the spring.
