Arsonists torch Burnley building site

ARSONISTS struck at an abandoned building site in Burnley on Christmas Day.

Firefighters were called to the Birchfield Mews development at Sycamore Park, near Gannow Lane, at 6.45pm.

The crew found the first floor of one of the buildings well alight and they were at the scene for 90 minutes.

Watch manager Steve Harrison said: “We arrived at a quickly developing fire in one of the buildings.

“The fire was on the first floor and officers wearing breathing apparatus used a ladder to gain access.

“Once the fire was out, we checked the property for any other seats of fire or people.

“There was quite a lot of damage to the first floor and part of the roof.”

Watch manager Harrison said those who started the fire had been lucky to get out.

He said: “It is like a rabbit warren up there and, once a fire starts, the escape route can be easily cut off.

“It is a bit risky as there are missing staircases and floors.

“I would urge everyone to stay out of there as it could be dangerous.”

What is it with these people ?

Let's have some fun on Christmas Day .

Ooh , I know , let's start a fire .

Sad , sad morons .

Most people on Christmas Day were enjoying being with their families .

I thought the picture summed it up quite well .

A company tried to build nice houses , ended up derelict , surrounded by barbed wire .

Face it - who on earth would pay to buy a house in Burnley ?

The whole place is derelict and should be surrounded with barbed wire .

Mind you , credit where credit is due - I once parked in Burnley .
Only for about ten minutes .
My wheels were not stolen !!

Wow !

I was dropping off some papers at Burnley's busiest building .
The Court House . Took three BIG lads with me .
Two stayed with the car .

Says it all really .

No, the negative votes are comments on the pathetic nature of your post.
