Bus drivers get naked for charity calendar
THESE drivers got off the bus and into the buff for a cheeky calendar.
Bus drivers from Bolton stripped off to raise money for charity after hearing about their colleague’s deaf grandson.
Barry Young, whose two- year-old grandson Connor is deaf, came up with the idea to raise money for Bolton Ear 4 Kidz, which is part of the National Deaf Children’s Society.
Fellow bus driver and friend Martin Bell has helped produce the calendar, featuring 14 drivers in total.
Mr Young, aged 50, of Farnworth, said: “It was a great laugh after we got over the initial shock of having to take our clothes off.
“I thought it would be interesting to try something different. Obviously it’s a cause very close to my heart, and my grandson being deaf has given me that extra motivation.
“The family are loving it. They can’t wait to buy the calendars.”
The calendar — Off the Buses — has already been sold to some staff.
Mr Young hopes the main focus will be on the cause the calendar promotes, rather than its striking images.
He said: “The more people that are aware of children’s charities such as Bolton Ear 4 Kidz, the better it’s going to be.”
Mr Bell, aged 36, of Aspull, Wigan, did the full design of the calendar and is delighted with the end result.
He said: “The calendar looks fantastic.
“One or two drivers were sceptical at first, but once we said we were doing it for charity, it was quite straightforward. It was actually easy to convince them to take their clothes off.
“It’s very important to keep raising awareness of children’s charities. It’s great to be able to show them support.”
It is hoped the calendar will raise £500.
