UP to 30 new jobs will be created when a gym and retail store opens its doors next year in Burnley, a sports giant has confirmed.
And DW Sports bosses say they will be investing £3million into their prominent new premises at the corner of St James Street and Hammerton Street.
The Lancashire Telegraph revealed last week that the Wigan-based sports firm had identified the former JJB Sports premises for its third venture in East Lancashire.
Following a substantial refit, the sports store could open in late February or early March, according to the company.
Bosses said they wanted to be a part of ‘booming’ Burnley, which was recently named the most enterprising borough in the UK by the Government, and around 25 to 30 posts will be established as a result of the developments.
A DW Sports spokesman said: “We are delighted to announce to be opening a new DW Gym and Sports Store in Burnley.
“It is a fantastic area that is thriving at the moment and we feel we can offer the residents of Burnley a new sporting experience, unlike any other in the area.”
The new store will have a focus on running, fitness cycling and outdoor pursuits, as well as the traditional team sports.”
Meanwhile the gym, which is expected to open later in the year, will have state-of-the art Techno-gym equipment, a free weights area and functional training area.
The chain already has two other East Lancashire outlets in Blackburn, at Guide and Lower Audley.
