A PENSIONER has died two weeks after he was hit by a bus.

The collision happened at 2.45pm on Friday November 29 on Deansgate outside McDonald's, in front of dozens of horrified witnesses.

George Ainsworth, aged 84, was crossing the road at the corner with Knowsley Street when the 501 service operated by First Manchester hit him.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died at 9am on Friday.

PC Phil Turley, of Greater Manchester Police's serious collision investigation unit, said: "Our thoughts and condolences are with George’s family, who are understandably shocked and upset following his death.

“Our investigation is continuing and we will do everything we can to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision.

“I would like to once again appeal for anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward.”
