Road disruption expected as electricity maintenance carried out

ROAD users are being warned to watch out for disruption along Chorley Old Road, as Electricity North West carry out maintenance work.

The company is fitting a new track in the pathway and across the carriageway by numbers 1124 and 1122, near the golf club.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place to help motorists, and the work is scheduled to be done by Christmas Eve.

Think most would agree that they are more preferable to no electricity, especially at Christmas.

Small one meter cube hole each side of the rd and mole the crossing, no disruption, less costs, faster, = common sense. United Utilities = A badly run private company who havent moved with the times, only to rip off the customers and line the share holders pockets and fat cats. Merry Christmas.

What if they are running parallel to the road and connecting various properties, lamposts, junctions to the cable.

If they are going across the road what about other services under the road? Just drive the mole through gas, water, sewers, tv, telephone?

The mole is a great piece of kit, however it does tend to awaken the dead / shatter the peace so may not be too popular with the residents, especially if they are working out of hours!

To behonest i blame the onerous regulations that instead of allowing the company/council to simply close one pavement and point people over the road they have to put a coned and barrier-ed pedestrian diversion into the road way which is half the time the cause of the temp lights.

That said if it is done anything like the work at Tonge Fold then the lights will only be up a bare minimum of the time and certainly not during the peak.
