THIS picture has been released in the same week British Transport Police launched its Christmas campaign aimed at making rail users more aware of the tactics of thieves.
Police are trying to trace the man in connection with the theft of a wallet containing £45 from a passenger on board a Northern Rail train from Blackburn to Preston at 7.30pm on Monday, November 18.
Det Chief Insp Andrea Rainey said: “In a week when we have launched our bid to reduce theft on the railway, it is disappointing to have even more victims of this type of crime.
“Theft has no place on the rail network and we are doing all we can to deter criminals from targeting passengers, as well as tracing those who continue to break the law.
“But we need assistance from the public and I am calling on anyone with information to come forward.”
