STUDENTS in Rawtenstall were shown a hard-hitting modern retelling of the tale of the Good Samaritan.

Years 8, 9 and 10 pupils at Alder Grange Community School watched A Town Called Malice, which adapted the biblical story to address issues of prejudice, racism, and what it means to ‘love thy neighbour’.

The production, by In Yer Face theatre company, used digital images and video footage alongside live performance.

David Birtles, Alder Grange’s Deputy Head, said: “It was a challenging play which tied in neatly with our recent focus during Anti-Bullying Week at the end of November.

“The play charts the destruction of a family with narrow views and high levels of intolerance.”
