BLACKBURN library will host a talk by best selling author, Steve McLaughlin, who was a bouncer at some of Blackpool’s busiest nightclubs in the 1990s when the rave scene was at its most popular.
Bouncers are a common sight at nightclubs and are supposed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of young clubbers, but as Steve knows all too well, they can also represent a dark underworld of organised crime and drug dealing.
Steven, who will give his talk on Wednesday, December 11 at 7pm, said: “Clubland UK was a difficult and emotional book for me to write, but a necessary one.
“I am no longer the person I was then, and it does embarrass me... but it was important for me to be totally honest, both with myself and with my readers.”
Steven is also the author of the best selling book ‘Squaddie’, a memoir of his experiences serving in the Royal Green Jackets.
Admission is £1. For more information, or to book a ticket, call 01254 661221.
