False claim community order for Leyland man

A Leyland man was given a 12-month community order for illegally claiming over £5,500.
James Parsons, 47, of Woodlands Drive, Leyland, pleaded guilty at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Friday, November 15.
He admitted claiming £4,949 housing benefit and £681 council tax benefit to which he was not entitled, between April 2010 and October 2012.
He failed to notify South Ribble Borough Council he was in full-time employment.
The court ordered him to pay back all of the money and sentenced him to a 12-month community order with 150 hours unpaid work.
