RESIDENTS are being urged to shop locally as part of Small Business Saturday which will see activities in Chorley town centre.
This Saturday, a number of businesses will be offering discounts and special offers in the town centre to encourage people to come to Chorley.
Chorley Traders’ Alliance will announce the winner of its Gingerbread Trail competition and the group has organised a choir performance, face painter, town crier and visit from the local MP to entertain shoppers during the day.
Exclusive offers that will be available in the town centre on Small Business Saturday include 10 per cent off cash purchases of CDs and DVDs at Malcolm’s Musicland; a £5 weekend hamper from Fresh & Fruity, with potatoes, carrots, sprouts, satsumas, bramley apples and a small tub of cream; half price gingerbreak cupcakes from Cakes by Ruth; a bottle of wine with every holiday booking at Travel Lounge; and extra scoop with every ice cream sold at Massa’s Ice Cream, plus a free gingerbread man for children with their ice cream; and buy one get one free at Beverley 925, jewellery stall.
More offers will be available from Brown’s Butchers, Pat’s cheese stall, Ebb & Flo book shop, Knitty Nora’s wool shop, Krishan Jewellers, Woodchats coffee shop, Northcotes hair salon, Feet First shoe shop and Anise gift shop.
Coun Peter Wilson, deputy leader of Chorley Council, said: “If every adult in Chorley spent £5 with their local independent shops and businesses instead of online or with the big supermarkets, it will be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds back into the local economy.
“This shows just how important it is for people to shop locally and support Chorley businesses especially during this festive shopping season.”
