Performing arts students at Bury College will be following the yellow brick road for this year’s Christmas pantomime.

The festive show at the college’s Beacon Theatre offers an entertaining twist to the classic Wizard of Oz story.

Tickets have been selling well, and students are putting the finishing touches to the performance, which has also enhanced their coursework.

Jack Forrest, aged 17, who plays the Wicked Witch of the West, said: “I’ve really enjoyed working on the pantomime. The Performing Arts course has really helped improve my confidence; I wouldn’t have been able to take on this role a few years ago.

“Now I’m looking forward to performing in front of an audience and seeing their reactions to the show.”

Natasha Higham, aged 18, who plays Aunty Emily, added: “I’ve picked up lots of new skills working on this show including performing with new people and developing my team work skills.”

Shows take place from next Wednesday and also on December 5, 9, 11 and 12, starting at 7pm.
