A CHANCE encounter by the Mayor of Blackburn has been held up as a great example of the town’s “Your Call” initiative.
Blackburn Mayor Salim Mulla had been visiting a primary school when he saw his fellow councillor Ron O’Keefe on an impromptu litter pick in the district.
Councillor Mulla said: “I had just been for a lovely Mayoral engagement at Shadsworth Infant school, spending a couple of hours with children and teachers.
“On my way back I see this not so young gentleman litter picking, as we drove closer by, I saw this fantastic caring hard worker picking litter in the whole estate. I had to come out and take a photograph with Ron.
“What a fantastic example for all of us to follow including myself.
“Well done Ron, you are a credit to the town.” The Your Call initiative to show community pride and give opportunities to make a real difference in your community.
It encourages Blackburn folk to shop locally, join in a clean up, take action on domestic abuse or road safety, and make choices and actions count.
