A YOUNG “strong-man” is planning to take on the best after winning the first competition he ever entered.
Josh Brown, 22, from Knuzden, picked up the title of Chorley's Strongest Man 2013 at a competition at the town’s Powerhouse Gym.
Among the events he took part in to win were the farmer’s walk with 110kg in each hand, the log press and the deadlift.
Josh revealed he has high ambitions in the field after surprising himself with his success. He said: “I have been training specifically for Strongman for the last six months with Mark Felix who is a World’s Strongest Man finalist and Tom Linklater, the current Bolton’s Strongest Man.
“Winning this competition was a very proud accomplishment for myself and also for my family, and I have had a great deal of support surrounding me.
“I should also thank my mum and dad Clair and Wayne and my girlfriend Kyomi for feeding me because I must cost a fortune.
“I plan to carry on training, and become the highest level of Strongman possible, hoping one day to compete in World’s Strongest Man.”
