COUNCIL recycling staff in Burnley are going to ‘set up shop’ at two of the town’s supermarkets as part of a festive eco-campaign.

Officers from the Streetscene unit will descend on Asda and Sainsbury’s in the coming weeks to offer advice on how households can reuse their yuletide leftovers.

Staff will be handing out sacks and boxes, and how waste can be recycled, over the course of a fortnight.

The team will be at Asda starting this Thursday and from Tuesday, December 10, members will be at Sainsbury’s, on each occasion from 10.30am to 3pm.

Recycling spokesman Helen Ryder said: “With Christmas coming up many people will have more to recycle and this is an ideal chance to pick up an extra blue box, white sack or clear sack to collect it all in.”
