A Bury bodybuilder is in good shape to fly the flag for his country.
Damian Lees will represent Britain at a world championship event in the USA next month after scooping two prestigious UK titles.
The 36-year-old triumphed in the under 75 kilogram class at the UKDFBA (United Kingdom Drug Free Bodybuilding Association) Open Championships.
And he also lifted the “best presentation” award for the whole show to make it a double success.
The championships were held at Leamington Spa, having won his same weight class at the same event in 2011.
He started on the trophy trail as far back as 1995 when he was judged Teenage Mr Ilkeston.
Damian will represent the UK at the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation Championships in Boston on November 9, where he will be among a team of eight representing Britain.
Commenting on his two latest UK awards, he said: “These are judged on the whole physical display, a balance of muscle symmetry, proportion, definition and muscle size.
“Before the championships, I’d been dieting for six months.”
Damian, of Old Lane, Walmersley, trains at the Olympic Powermill in Hornby Street, Bury, and is harnessing his expertise and experience in his field by working as a personal trainer.
He added: “I train five or six times a week and also take morning walks to burn off body fat. I’m looking forward to going to Boston next month.”
