Accrington to host Christmas markets

A SERIES of Christmas markets will be held in Accrington for the first time, the council announced.
Traders have been encouraged to come forward and be a part of the new venture.
Cabinet member for markets at Hyndburn Council, Coun Clare Pritchard, said: “We’re really pleased to announce our plans for a series of Christmas markets, to run in December in front of Accrington’s historic Market Hall.
“These seasonal markets will help promote local traders selling festive food, drink, and goods, including art and toys.
“So we’re asking traders to apply for space on the markets now, to join in the festive fun, and help make this a prosperous Christmas to remember in Accrington town centre.”
Santa’s Grotto will return to the Market Hall, and a reindeer parade will take place, on Broadway, on December 7.
Coun Pritchard added: “There will be 10 chalet-type stalls available for rent, and space for some gazebos during December.
“We’re expecting plenty of applications, so it’ll be first come, first served, with only two of any similar trade on each day.”
The Christmas markets will be held on December 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, and 23.
To apply for a gazebo at £10 per day, or a chalet at £15 per day, visit www.hyndburnbc.gov.uk or call 01254 388111 before November 15.
