Air ambulance lands at primary school after man falls off ladder
THE North West Air Ambulance landed at St Maxentius Primary School after a pensioner fell from a ladder.
The helicopter landed on the school field at about 11.40am this morning after it was reported that a man in his 70s had fallen off a ladder at house in Birchfield, Bradshaw.
The man is not thought to have been very high on the ladder, but suffered suspected spinal injuries.
Staff at the school said the injured man was not on the school’s grounds or carrying out work for the school, but the school's field, off New Heys Way, Bradshaw, is believed to have been the most convenient place for the helicopter to land.
Children were said to have been intrigued and excited by the helicopter landing at the school.
The air ambulance was not used, however, and the man was taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service.
