A GROUP of intrepid lecturers from Bury College failed to wilt when faced with a 170-mile cycle in aid of Bury Hospice.
The eight-strong team of staff from the college’s electrical department, accompanied by four of their friends and family, completed the Way of the Roses challenge.
The trek involved a gruelling journey from Morecambe to Bridlington, and follows in the trail of other charity events they have undertaken in previous year, such as the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride and the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge. This year, they smashed all previous records by raising £1,500.
Ken Livesey, electrical installation assistant curriculum manager, said: “It was the hardest thing that we have done because it was such a long distance and we did it over three days.
“It was hard work but we all had a really great sense of achievement when we had finished.”
