Burnley thug jailed for attacking ex-partner
A THUG who repeatedly attacked his ex-partner and flouted court orders has been locked up for 12 months.
Burnley Crown Court heard Colin Hawkins, 28, who has more than 100 offences on his record, also sent threatening Facebook messages to former partner Gemma Wilkinson's male friend when he found out she had fled to Manchester and was staying with him.
The hearing was told Hawkins had clocked up eight convictions for violence against Ms Wilkinson between 2010 and 2012. He had been the subject of a non-molestation order and a restraining order when he carried out the latest violence over 24 hours in June.
Hawkins, of Leyland Road, Burnley, had admitted three counts of breaching the non-molestation order, one of acting in breach of a restraining order and two of common assault. He was given a new, three-year restraining order.
Robert Golinski, prosecuting, said the defendant and victim had been in an on-off relationship for three or four years and he had frequently used violence.
