WATERGATE Lane in Farnworth was closed both ways tonight due to an accident involving a motorcycle.
Officers from Farnworth Fire Station were called to the crash after a motorcyclist who exited junction four of the M61 onto Watergate Lane slid into a Volkswagen Up.
The motorcyclist fractured his right arm and suffered neck and back injuries and was taken to Salford Royal Hospital by paramedics. No one in the other vehicle was injured.
Police directed heavy traffic affecting both Watergate Lane and Plodder Lane until the road was reopened around 8pm with traffic returned to normal.
