UPDATE: Pregnant woman hurt after car overturns on A666 St Peter's Way
A HEAVILY pregnant woman was taken to hospital after her car overturned on a busy Bolton road.
The accident happened on the A666 St Peter’s Way, near the junction of Blackbank Street and Blackburn Road, just after 1pm on Saturday.
A fire service spokesman said: “There was a pregnant lady and another lady in the car.
“It did not look like they were badly injured but, obviously, there would be concern over the baby.
“We just assisted the paramedics, nobody was trapped. They were both put on long boards and taken to hospital.
“The helicopter was there but wasn’t used.”
The A666 Blackburn Road outbound was closed for almost four and a half hours while the pregnant woman, thought to be in her 30s, and the other woman were rescued and the silver car recovered.
Police said the incident involved one vehicle that overturned and two women were injured, not thought to be seriously.
The incident caused delays for motorists on St Peter's Way and surrounding routes.
