Man dies after being stabbed in terrifying home robbery

A 62-YEAR-OLD man who was stabbed during a terrifying robbery in his own home has died.
Steven Butterworth was stabbed four times during the raid on his home in Diamond Street, Leigh, at about 5.30pm on August 25.
The robber fled with Mr Butterworth's wallet.
The 62-year-old was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary, where he lost his fight for life on Friday night.
A post mortem examination will be carried out later today to establish the cause of death.
Det Chf Insp Howard Millington who is leading the investigation said: “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the relatives and friends of Mr Butterworth who are clearly devastated by his death.
“This in now a murder investigation and although someone has been charged with offences in relation to this matter we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have any information about the incident.”
