Roy Chubby Brown ready to shock the Reebok Stadium
Roy Chubby Brown, the self-styled comic of controversy, is also taking time before the gig to meet and greet 20 of his fans as well as a number of injured military veterans — something he says is “really important” to him.
Chubby, who dresses in trademark goggles and patchwork suit, is back with his “most shocking tour ever” and is appearing at The Premier Suite on Saturday October 26.
Normal prices for the show are priced at £20, but those with membership cards for the football club can get them for just £15 each, plus booking fee.
The 68-year-old told The Bolton News: “To be fair I’d probably do a show anywhere — in a phone booth if I had to.
“But I still really like the intimate gigs like the one I’m doing at the Reebok.
“I always do a meet and greet at my shows too. It’s really important.
“I’ve never refused a photo or an autograph for a fan before. They are the people that make sure I’m still on stage.”
The comedian, who is currently filming for his new DVD entitled Who Ate All the Pies in Berwick-upon-Tweed, dismisses the notion that his style of humour is “outdated”.
He said: “As long as there are people out there to laugh me, I’ll still have a job. I don’t think that I could do anything else apart from being a stand-up comic.
“There are a lot of comics that came before me that have pushed the boundaries so I’m not the first to do it.
“As far as I’m concerned, political correctness has given us all a kick up the backside — but it doesn’t affect Chubby. I can talk about filth and get away with it, although I’ve had to defend myself many times.”
Tickets for the show can be bought from Ticketmaster.co.uk for £20 or £15 if you have a valid Bolton Wanderers member-ship card.
