MUD, an obstacle course and plenty of grit and determination helped competitors in the No Ego Challenge event make it to the finishing line.
Competitors from all over the area, including Bolton, headed for the beautiful Brockholes Nature Reserve in Samlesbury to take part in the race earlier this month.
Clearly there was plenty of mud but Sarah Meredith and Rachel Evans, both from Bolton, gave their all as they tackled the course alongside more than 500 people who were taking part, watched by hundreds of spectators.
It is a 10 kilometre trek across tough, muddy terrain designed to test competitors strength, stamina and determination.
Along the way there are obstacles and challenges to tackle in order to reach the finish line.
The next No Ego Challenge is in Penrith on October 26.
