Blackburn nursery branded ‘inadequate’
OFSTED inspectors labelled a nursery ‘inadequate’ after owners left staff without a phone service for emergencies for several months.
The privately-owned 24-place Park Nursery School in the Corporation Park area of Blackburn was also said to be uninsured.
Staff, who were praised as ‘enthusiastic and dedicated’ in the report, claim the surprise Ofsted inspection came on the same day the nursery was closed down.
The newly-published Ofsted report rated the nursery as inadequate because owners had not provided public liability insurance.
Inspectors also said the inspection at the end of July had raised safety concerns.
The report said: “The provider has not ensured that suitable arrangements have been made to be able to contact emergency services, or for parents to contact the setting in an emergency. This is a breach of requirements.”
However, inspectors praised staff and said: “Children are supported by enthusiastic, dedicated staff.”
The owner of Park Nursery School declined to comment.
