A 30-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed after admitting carrying a meat cleaver in Blackburn town centre.
Preston Crown Court heard how Daniel Harris, of Clayton Street, Blackburn, took out the weapon during an argument with Graham Burns, who was with his girlfriend and son, in Bank Top.
The court was told that after a short while, Harris put the weapon, which had a six-inch blade away again and then moved towards King Street.
Sentencing Harris, who pleaded guilty to the charge, to four months behind bars, Recoder Robert Crawford told him: “Drink is not an excuse, if anything, it is an aggravating feature. If you produce a weapon like this in public, then to prison you must go.”
