A LOCAL trust has stepped in to fund a Blackburn girl’s charity mission to Africa.
Former Our Lady and St John pupil Kimberley Anderson will leave for Tanzania in October to work for 10 weeks in a remote village, and after reading about her trip, trustees from The John Bury Trust have offered to find all the kit she needs.
The trust was formed by Jack Bury OBE and his daughter Pam Rodgers when they were mayor and mayoress of Blackburn with Darwen in 2000 and 2001, and was set up to enable Jack to continue working with young people in the borough.
Pam, chair of the trust, said: “Kimberley is exactly the sort of young person the trust was established to encourage.
“She is a great role model and we were pleased to step in to help cover the cost of equipment she needs for the trip.”
