A 39-YEAR-OLD woman cut her son with a pair of scissors as they rowed over her drinking.
Blackburn magistrates heard Zoe Lee was cutting a coupon out of a magazine as her son remonstrated with her about the level, and frequency, of her drinking.
But it was accepted her actions had been reckless, rather than deliberate.
Lee, of Oakenhurst Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting Kyle Lee.
She was made subject to community supervision for 12 months, and ordered to pay £145 costs.
Philippa White, prosecuting, said Kyle expressed his concerns when his mum said she was going to the pub.
She said: “In his opinion, she was drinking too often, and too much, and said so.
“She jabbed out at him and cut his hand with the scissors.
“She saw blood and the incident immediately came to an end.”
Sentencing Lee, District Judge Jane Goodwin said Kyle was concerned about his mother and was trying to do the right thing.
She said: “I accept the injury was caused recklessly as part of a heated argument.
“They appear to have got their relationship back on track and I am treating this as a one-off incident.”
