Friday the 13th - the day for a gothin wedding!
FOR many couples, Friday the 13th is a date to avoid when tying the knot.
But for Jackie and Keith Dolphin, aged 60, it was the perfect day for their gothicthemed wedding, which took place at 13.00 hours on Friday 13, 2013.
Shunning the traditional white wedding, the bride wore a long black and purple lace gown for the nuptials, which took place at Ainsworth Parish Church.
A number of guests also embraced the gothic theme, while the groom wore a Dracula-esque coat.
The new Mrs Dolphin, nee Fielding, aged 54, said: “When he got down on his good knee and asked me, we were thinking about a Gothic wedding. I thought, would it be acceptable in a church?
“But they’re a bit more modern now. We did ask the vicar and he said, you can come dressed in whatever you like, it’s the ceremony that counts. As long as you don’t turn up naked.
“It was a Gothic-style. We were all in dark colours. Keith had a lovely coat. I thought 13.00 hours, 2013, Friday 13, yes, it slots in.”
The reception was held at Breightmet Golf Club, where the tables had themes including bats and broomsticks and Pendle Witches, as well as a black and purple cake, complete with two vampires and bats, which Mrs Dolphin made.
Mrs Dolphin said: “I love anything like that. I quite like witches and Harry Potter.”
