Girls cry as TOWIE star Joey Essex visits Bolton
IT was like Beatlemania in Bolton when hundreds of screaming girls met their idol — The Only Way is Essex star, Joey Essex.
Some diehard fans had queued since 2am to catch a glimpse of the reality TV star when he called into Tesco at Middlebrook on Saturday to promote his new fragrance.
The 23-year-old launched the range of My Girl, for his female fans, and Fusey, for his male following, after releasing hair care range, Joey Essex D'Reem Hair earlier this year.
“It’s crazy that so many people turn up to see me. When I launched Fusey—his brand—people were in tents outside.”
The store in Mansell Way had a cordon inside for fans, who were queuing nearly the full width of the building.
Some fans talked about their excitement when they heard the star was coming to Bolton. Karol Crapnell, from Darwen, was drafted in to be the driver for her 23- year-old daughter Jenny Crapnell, as she was too excited to get behind the wheel herself.
Mrs Crapnell said: “She is a huge fan of Joey Essex. She has never met a celebrity before and because this is local to us she couldn’t believe her luck.
"I drove her because she thought she would be too nervous. I think when she meets him she will be shell shocked.
"She will be on a high all day afterwards. She just likes him and the things he says.”
Shelbie Lee, aged 15, from Wigan, added: “I really like Joey because I think he is nice looking and he is really funny as well.
"I have always watched him on TOWIE and I had loads of posters of him in my wall but I have had to take them down for it to be decorated.
"When I meet him I want to tell him we share the same birthday. “
Leah Weston, aged 12, from Horwich, said: “When I meet him I will tell him I love him. I like him because he is fit.”
