Hundreds of people turn out to see The Only Way is Essex star in Horwich
HUNDREDS of fans flocked to see The Only Way is Essex star Joey Essex as he promoted his new fragrances.
Tears, smiles and chants marked the reality TV star’s arrival at Tesco in Middlebrook. Some die-hard fans started queuing at 2am to secure a spot for the heartthrob, who arrived more than eight hours later.
Joey, aged 23, called at the store to meet fans following the launch of his scents, My Girl, for his female fans, and Fusey, for his male following.
The trendsetter launched the range after releasing hair care range, Joey Essex D'Reem Hair earlier this year, Joey, who had travelled up to Horwich from Essex on Saturday, said: “I have been to Bolton before but it was the first time I had seen The Reebok Stadium so I took a picture of it.
“It’s crazy that so many people turn up to see me. When I launched Fusey (his brand) people were in tents outside.”
The store in Mansell Way had a cordon inside the store along the middle for fans, which saw them queuing nearly the full width of the building.
Some fans gave talked about their excitement about the star coming to Bolton prior to meeting him.
Karol Crapnell, from Darwen, was drafted in to be the driver for her daughter Jenny Crapnell, aged 23, as she was too excited to get behind the wheel herself.
Mrs Crapnell said: “She is a huge fan of Joey Essex. She has never met a celebrity before and because this is local to us she couldn’t believe her luck. I drove her because she thought she would be too nervous I think when she meets him she will be in shell shock. She will be on a high all day afterwards. She just likes him and the things he says.”
Shelbie Lee, aged 15, from Wigan, said: “I really like Joey because I think he is nice looking and he is really funny as well. I have always watched him on TOWIE and I had loads of posters of him in my wall but I have had to take them down for it to be decorated. When I meet him I want to tell him we share the same birthday. “ Leah Weston, aged 12, from Horwich, said: “When I meet him I will tell him I love him. I like him because he is fit.”
Joey said he thought his scents would appeal to most people.
He said: “I wanted the My Girl scent to be in the shape of a love heart, quite cute and simple and you get a little promise ring with it. So if a mum buys it she can give the ring to her daughter, or it can be a best friends ring or for anyone. It’s for all ages. I didn’t want to make it for younger girls or older men it’s for all girls and dudes as I say.”
