Motorcyclist seriously injured in Moss Bank Way crash

A MOTORCYLIST has been seriously injured in a crash in Astley Bridge.
The accident happened in Moss Bank Way near Astley Bridge Cricket Club at about 2.30pm today.
Police said they had received calls to report that a motorcyclist was lying in the central reservation but was conscious.
The 33-year-old man was riding a blue Suzuki motorbike. A driver of a BMW has spoken to police but it is not yet known whether another vehicle was involved in the collision.
A North West Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The NWAS was contacted at 2.29pm following reports a man had been ejected from a motorbike.
"He suffered suspected pelvic, abdominal and head injuries and was taken to Salford Royal Hospital.”
The hospital was alerted and staff were on standby for his arrival.
An elderly woman, who had been driving a car, was treated for shock at the scene. The road has been partially closed while police investigate.
