THERE was a flashback to the 1940s in Darwen as the town put on its annual celebrations.
Entertainment at the fourth Darwen 1940s Day included singers, a ukelele player, a Winston Churchill impersonator and a Home Guard display.
Visitors even got to taste sarsaparilla and enjoy hotpot.
Darwen town mayor Eileen Entwistle said: “It was a superb day and one of the best we have had. There was so much talent on display.
“It was nice to have people dressing up and we even had people dressed up as soldiers.
“It brought both old and young together.
“I am already looking forward to next year.
“The day is firmly on the programme of Darwen events.”
