SIX teenagers found themselves in a tight spot after they were trapped in a lift for more nearly two hours.
The youths, thought to be aged between 17 and 19, are believed to have been jumping in the lift in Knowsley Medical Centre, Knowsley Street, Bury, which caused it to get stuck between the ground and first floor.
Firefighters from the nearby Bury station were called to assist at 4pm on Tuesday, but were unable to free the boys and called for a lift engineer for assistance.
One teenager told firefighters he felt unwell and others were starting to panic by the time they were freed just before 6pm.
Firefighters were about to pass water through a small gap of several inches into the lift but the lift started to move.
Tony Wilson, crew manager, said: “I would like to warn people after this incident not to play in lifts as you could end up stuck.
“The lift was broken.
“We had two fire engines there for nearly two hours and we were tied up, when there could have been more serious incidents to attend.”
