Community order for shoplifting Burnley pensioner

A SHOPLIFTING pensioner who struck three times in a day was given a six month community order.
Burnley magistrates heard how Ann Smith, 63, stole two pairs of boat shoes worth £50 from Marks and Spencer, a toy dump truck worth £19.99 from The Early Learning Centre and curtains worth £19.99 from The Yorkshire Linen Company.
Smith, said to have money problems, was subject to a 12 month conditional discharge for theft at the time.
The defendant, of Harcourt Street, Burnley, also received supervision.
