VILLAGERS near Burnley have more than one reason to be cheerful for the forthcoming bank holiday.

Not only is the Cliviger Music Festival returning to the Mount Lane field, offering two days of music and merriment.

But there is also another outing for real ale lovers as a beer festival takes over Ninos at the Fighting Cocks, in Red Lees Road, over the bank holiday weekend.

Joanne Doherty, one of the music festival organisers, said: “Due to the success of last year’s event there will be lots to entertain over the two days including a local DJ, several live bands, singers and, back by popular demand, ‘Elvis’.”

The Elvis in question will be Burnley’s own Jared Warne, who has won international honours with his portrayal of The King.

Jared will be appearing on stage on Sunday, alongside Madom Red, Kayleigh Bannatyne and Steeros.

Before the line-up on Sunday there will also be a ‘Picnic and Praise’ event, held in conjunction with local churches, which starts at 11am.

Meanwhile more than 20 real ales, artisan lagers and ciders have been lined up for Nino’s big bash, which is being held over four days, from Friday to Monday.

An outdoor marquee and live music are also planned, alongside same tantalising fare, with admission £3 with a programme.
