A TEENAGER who led police on a high speed chase has been spared jail - because he owned up to his actions.
Burnley magistrates heard council worker Andrew Brendan Walsh, 19, who was not insured and clocked up 80mph, put the public at risk.
Walsh, of Lane Ends Road, Bacup, admitted dangerous driving, failing to stop for a constable, no insurance and no licence.
He was ordered to pay £1,260 in fines and costs, was banned for 12 months and must take an extended re-test.
The bench told him the starting point fot the offences was custody but he was not going to prison because of his guilty plea and previous good character.
