AN academy in Yate has announced plans to open a nursery on site, making it the first all-through education facility in the district.
Yate International Academy already encompasses Woodlands Primary School and in September it will launch Woodlands Nursery for three and four-year-olds.
The academy, part of The Ridings’ Federation of Academies which also includes Winterbourne International Academy, will become the only It forms part of Yate's all-through academy for three to 18-year-olds which is the only one of its kind in South Gloucestershire.
Woodlands Nursery, as it will be known, will be based within the secure confines of Woodlands primary on Sundridge Park. It will focus on improving the education of the children with fun activities in order to prepare them well for primary school.
Woodlands assistant principal Julie Hogan said "We are really excited to offer nursery education for three year olds at Woodlands Primary Phase as it will be a fantastic opportunity to develop stronger partnerships with our local community. "The nursery will offer rich learning experiences and help our children prepare for their future education at Yate International Academy."
Dr Rob Gibson, chief executive principal of the federation, said: "This wonderful new nursery is an important addition to the all-through academy, fulfilling our vision of delivering education to our children from three to 19 years of age. "The need to develop a solid educational foundation from an early age provides the necessary springboard for future development and the high educational provision of this nursery begins that process."
A nursery place will guarantee admission to Woodlands Primary School.
The nursery will open five days a week from 8.40am to 3.20pm during term time and will employ a class teacher and two teaching assistants.
