COMEDIAN Peter Kay looks set to team up with Little Britain star Matt Lucas to front next year's Comic Relief fundraising single.
The Bolton comedian is said to be recording a version of The Proclaimers cult hit I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles).
It will be the second time Peter Kay will have recorded a charity single for Comic Relief and it is hoped that his latest offering will be as successful as his million-selling version of Tony Christie's (Is This The Way To) Amarillo.
The comedy pair are said to be fans of the Scottish group. Lucas wrote sleeve notes for their greatest hits, while Kay joined the band on stage when they performed at Live 8 last year.
The Proclaimers will provide backing vocals for the release.
A spokesman for Comic Relief said: "The single is still be finalised and we cannot confirm the artist as yet."
