Volunteers revamp Blackburn centre’s outdoor space

VOLUNTEERS from Blackburn charity Self Unlimited have unveiled a new look for Greenfield Community Centre.

The charity received a paint donation from the Dulux Let’s Colour Project, an initiative that offers a helping hand to community groups, charities and individuals around the UK.

The centre in Green Lane has been in operation since 2003 and Self Unlimited has been involved for the past three years.

The outdoor artificial pitch, cage and wooden boards surrounding it were in need of a paint job and volunteers rolled up their sleeves to breathe new life into it.

The paint was donated by Dulux Decorator Centres in King Street, Blackburn, after centre manager, Jane Martin, nominated the project online.

She said: “As an organisation, we try to help integrate individuals into their community better, so ensuring the centre looks well-presented and inviting is key to achieving this aim. With more than 60 people using the facilities each week, a revamp was so important.”
